Living To Your Greatness

The following is a summary of the main arguments of
my book titled: Living
To Your Greatness by Mpho Bosupeng. The book is currently

Firstly,
you need to follow your dream for your
own personal fulfillment. Fulfillment is a complex concept. But we can be
sure if we are not fulfilled. Have you
left a job because you felt it did not fulfill you? Or it was not challenging
enough? Or simply was beneath your potential? All of these questions are
bits and pieces of fulfillment. You cannot be fulfilled if you do not follow a
dream. If you choose not to follow your dream you deny yourself the glory you
could have achieved. Recently, some people have stated that not following your
dream is equivalent to spiritual suicide. This is simply because when you have
a goal and do not follow it, you stifle your talents and abilities which are
meant to be showcased. In short, you are basically dying inside and that is
point where most people find themselves.
In
addition, you need to follow your goal in order to make a name for yourself. We all have duties and responsibilities
but being known as a “movie star”,
“singer” or “writer” is remarkable. It is not the same as being only known
as a father, husband, brother, son, and relative for example. Truthfully, I
believe a person who has lived to their potential, their legacy never dies.
Their effect will always be there and they will be known as somebody who did
his best to make the world a much better place.
Apart
from that on a personal level, we need to follow our passion to be happy. There is so much happiness
that comes from following and achieving your goals. I have never heard somebody
saying that following their dream gave them grief. It hardly happens. You may
not reach your goal but you made an intense effort to get where you are. If it was easy, everyone would have done
it. Following your dream will also make you financially stable and you can
live the life that you want. There is just so much regret and unhappiness that
comes from not following your dream.
Socially,
following your dream is also important. If you reach your goals you can share
your success tips with others. People will look up you and you will gain
respect from your society for having the courage to do whatever it took to
realize your dream. Think about how much rich people donate to charitable
organizations and orphanages. All their donations would not have been possible
if they failed to follow their dreams. Apart from that you need to follow your
dream so that you can explore other
talents within you. As people, we are pregnant with gifts that we have not
explored yet. For example, think about singers who often turn into actors or
actresses. This can only be done if you change your mindset and value yourself.
Some people often say “success creates
success”. I believe this to be true and if you are successful in achieving
your dream, you will become even more successful with the qualities you have
developed earlier. When you follow your dream you become courageous,
relentless, and bold enough to tackle another situation
Reaching Your Goals
There
be will no use in exploring the reasons why people do not want to pursue their
dreams without providing techniques to follow your dreams. Of course there are
several things you need in order to be successful and be fulfilled but the
common ones are:
Be Visionary:
for you to start working on any project you need to visualize it as “complete”
before you start working on it. There is a common saying that if you can see
it, you can do it. It does not matter how ridiculous it may sound to your
mates. The problem is people who have dreams often let other people’s
negativity dictate their lives. A visionary individual does not need your
sympathy to believe in their dreams and themselves. This means they take full
personal responsibility and do not channel the challenges of their dreams to
their families or friends. When you have a dream you feel personally
responsible for something.
It
is like you have been bestowed with a duty or task of turning that dream into
reality. People often say that a poor man is not the one without money but
without a dream. Having a dream drives you to do whatever it takes to turn it
into reality. Certainly you cannot have a dream which deal with something you
do not like to do. It will be impossible under that circumstance to fully
commit to the dream. However, if you are doing something you love, it would not
matter if you spend hundreds of hours working on it. Go after what you love as
if your life depends on it because it does.
Work Hard and Commit To Excellence:
People who reach their dreams and goals put in a lot of hard work. There is a
common saying that hard work never killed anybody. It has been noted that hard
work generally brings lot of intense pain and discomfort but which is more
painful, the pain of regret your entire life or finite pain? The pain is not
forever. It is only for that time. I believe it will be much easier to work
hard when you have a dream or goal that when you do not have a grand purpose.
You also have to work to impress by committing to excellence in everything that
you do. So make sure you impress your boss, teachers, and lecturers with your
will and drive as you commit to excellence.
There Is No Room For Procastination:
Procastination is one of the major reasons why people carry their talents and
gifts to the grave. When you procastinate you are not putting your goals first.
Somebody out there who does not procrastinate will be ready to snatch an
opportunity which would have been yours. You will notice that the more you procastinate,
the higher the chances that you will not do that particular task at all. The
main reason why people procastinate is because they habitually believe that
they do not have whatever it takes to get the work done. You have to believe in
yourself so that you can do whatever it takes to reach your destination.
There
will never be a perfect time to go after your dream. Start NOW! No one is
responsible for your success but you. You will be the one rejoicing when
success comes. Take personal responsibility and work on your dream today.
